The cargo area of the LCA60T

The cargo area can accommodate up to 60 tonnes of payload. Its impressive dimensions make it the largest aircraft cargo hold in the world: 97 metres long, 8 metres high and 8 metres wide.

It is divided into two parts:

⚙️A triangular upper part, where all the hydraulic and electromechanical systems are located to ensure the smooth operation of loading and unloading.

🏗️ A rectangular lower section, hosting the lifting equipment and securing the payloads. The hold can carry wind turbine blades, containers, logs or even a mobile hospital.

The cargo hold is closed by two sliding doors made of a metal structure to withstand aerodynamic forces. It can be operated by the Load Exchange Officer (LEO) from the control panel. A motorised system opens the doors during loading and unloading and closes and locks them during flight.

Many thanks to our technical partners REEL, TECALEMIT AEROSPACE, LATESYS – GROUPE ADF and GROUPE ADF for their contribution and confidence in this project!

The systems carried by these partners are being developed as part of the PSPC LCA60T project, financed by the French government and operated by #Bpifrance as part of the “Programme d’investissements d’avenir”.
