Launch of a study with the World Food Programme
A fantastic partnership with the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize winner
Last April, FLYING WHALES entered into a historic partnership with the World Food Programme. We are conducting a three-year joint study to determine how airships, specifically the LCA60T, could contribute to humanitarian aid operations.
Currently, the distribution of food and other aid in remote and difficult-to-reach areas is a logistical challenge that WFP can only overcome by using UN Humanitarian Air Service planes and helicopters, with significant operational costs, capacity constraints and environmental impacts.
The use of the LCA60T could provide WFP with new point-to-point heavy lift capabilities while reducing the burden of these operations on the WFP budget and the environment, without the need for transportation infrastructure. In the context of the global food crises, this collaboration is one of the most significant.
