Major milestones reached at the Paris Air Show for a unique airship training program

🎓 FLYING WHALES is not only a revolutionary airship: it also marks the emergence of a complete industry dedicated to cargo transport by airship.

For several years, we’ve been working with leading partners to develop new skills and create training programs that will enable the safe and global operation of the LCA60T.

✈️ At the 2025 Paris Air Show, two key announcements marked a concrete step forward in this initiative:

• Mermoz Academy officially handed over the theoretical training manuals, set to become the European benchmark for airship pilot training. This is a major milestone toward EASA CPL(A) certification.
• AFMAÉ officially submitted its application to OSAC, directly from our booth, to become the first school in Europe and worldwide, authorized to train airship mechanics (EASA L66 L4G/L5).

This project, winner of the IFPAI call for projects in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, is led by Mermoz Academy, AFMAÉ, the Pôle Formation UIMM Nouvelle-Aquitaine AFPI SO, and FLYING WHALES, with the support of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region, Caisse des Dépôts, and the French Government through hashtag#France2030.
