Agen will host the world’s first school dedicated to the various careers in airship operation.
After two years of in-depth studies and a competition between 12 sites in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, FLYING WHALES SERVICES has selected Agen aerodrome for the operation of its first airship training school.
The choice of Agen is a decision based on coherence, both technically and environmentally. Although we reviewed three high-quality finalist proposals, Agen was selected because this project presents the lowest environmental impact.
This decision marks the creation of a strategic partnership with the future assembly site in Laruscade (Northern Gironde), ensuring geographical balance and optimal coverage of the regional territory. The establishment of this school is supported by the French State and the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region under the Future Investment Program – France 2030, managed by the Caisse des Dépôts.
To welcome the airship school very soon, a recruitment campaign for about ten ground operators (mechanics and riggers) will be launched on site in the coming weeks.
