ONF Logistique x FLYING WHALES SERVICES: a contract signed to structure future operations

🌲 Signed on July 1st between ONF Logistique, the freight forwarding subsidiary of the French National Forest Office (ONF), and FLYING WHALES SERVICES, this contract defines the framework for future operational activities related to timber extraction and transport using the LCA60T airship.

The FLYING WHALES airship, operating in hover mode, will make it possible to transport timber from remote forest areas:

• Without building new roads or access tracks
• Without putting pressure on or damaging existing infrastructure
• While avoiding soil compaction in forest ecosystems

This solution fits fully within the ONF’s approach to sustainable forest management, helping to:

• Ensure forest regeneration
• Promote the use of local wood, as an alternative to less sustainable construction materials

The initial techno-economic studies conducted jointly by ONF and FLYING WHALES laid the foundation for the LCA60T program, created to support and revitalize the forestry sector.

These studies led to the design of specific operational methods and equipment, now formalized through this contract, which paves the way for concrete trials and operations over the next 2 to 5 years.
